Background
Welcome! My name is Katie, and I am an Illustrator based in Long Island, New York. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology. I am primarily interested in narrative-based work, from character design to storybook illustration to storyboarding in animation.
Medium
For fully rendered illustrations, I typically prefer to work with watercolor and gouache paints as I have been working with them the longest, and digital art has also become one of my preferred mediums. I like to start with watercolor to get the desired textures and then use Photoshop and Procreate to edit the artwork
Inspiration
I am inspired to create stories out of what I see around me day to day. I get out my sketchbook and document what I see, like in this piece, where I caught a peaceful moment of my friends hanging out on the couch post-brunch, and just like that, those lazy 15 minutes will be fondly remembered by all of us.
